We want to minimize the impact of our products on the environment and therefore strive to use sustainable materials. Our main raw material is cotton. The cultivation and processing of cotton has a great impact on the environment and therefore our focus is on finding more sustainable alternatives.

The bed linen from the Beddinghouse Care collection is made of materials that wick moisture well, have antibacterial properties and are easier to recycle. The production of these materials uses considerably less water than the production of more traditional materials. Also, fewer chemicals such as pesticides and bleach are used and fewer cheap and dangerous additives, such as microplastics, are used.

Sustainable packaging

We are bringing this new collection in FSC cardboard packaging. This means that the raw material of the packaging comes from responsibly managed forests. This packaging is a lot more sustainable and can simply be thrown away with the old paper, so that it can be recycled again. The elastic around the packaging can be reused.

Care qualities

Bamboo

Bamboo fabric is made from fibers extracted from the bamboo plant, which grows naturally and rapidly. Bamboo is known to improve soil fertility, reduce soil erosion, and absorb CO2. Bamboo is naturally antibacterial, which means that pesticides are not required during cultivation. The duvet cover is made of 50% bamboo and 50% cotton satin. The bamboo/satin mix creates a silky soft and supple fabric. Bamboo fabric naturally contains an antibacterial bio agent and absorbs up to 70% more moisture than cotton, keeping it fresh for longer. The bamboo duvet cover is suitable for all seasons: the fabric is highly breathable, making it feel cool in the summer, and its insulating properties provide a comfortable warmth in the winter.

Lyocell

Lyocell is made from the cellulose fibres of beech trees, which can be grown on land that is not suitable for agriculture. Because beech trees can be grown with wastewater and fewer harmful solvents, the cultivation process is much more environmentally friendly than, for example, cotton cultivation. The beech tree needs less water, pesticides and fertilisers to grow and is therefore a more sustainable option. In addition, lyocell has antibacterial properties, excellent moisture absorption capacity and offers optimum ventilation. The fabric ensures very good temperature regulation, making the duvet cover cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The mix of lyocell and cotton sateen makes the duvet cover silky soft, durable, shiny and pleasantly comfortable to sleep under.

Recycled cotton

The duvet cover is made from a mix of recycled and BCI certified cotton. Recycled cotton requires fewer raw materials, much less water, fertilizers and pesticides to produce. Using recycled cotton also helps to reduce waste. BCI (Better Cotton Initiative) sets requirements that the cotton process must meet to ensure a more sustainable end product. All in all, this makes recycled cotton/BCI cotton a more sustainable choice than conventional cotton. Cotton is breathable, absorbent and easy to maintain. Cotton is the most commonly used material for duvet covers and is suitable for all seasons.

Organic cotton

Organic cotton is grown in almost the same way as regular cotton; the main difference is that organic cotton is not exposed to harmful and synthetic pesticides, genetic modification or artificial fertilizers. In addition, our organic cotton is GOTS certified. GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is an international quality mark for organic textiles that sets quality requirements for the production of fibers and their further processing and guarantees that the production takes place in a socially responsible and environmentally friendly way. Organic cotton is breathable, moisture-absorbent, softer and thicker than conventional cotton and is also more resistant to wear.
